Where do I go?
The location for the tournament is located on SportWrench - look for the city and date. You can get the site information off the SportWrench site.
If you are going to an evaluation at an alternate site, email [email protected] for site location.
If you are going to an evaluation at an alternate site, email [email protected] for site location.
For the evaluations you will not be working as a paid referee so you will be responsible for your own parking and lunch. Lodging will not be provided. If you do not have an evaluation site listed that is within 50 miles of your home, notify Sue and we will see if arrangements can be made for evaluations at an alternate site.
Candidate Instructions for On-Court Evaluations
To be prepared for the evaluation, you need to wear clothes that resemble a referee uniform. You do NOT need the certified shirt. We don't require them until you pass your evaluations. You should wear: Navy blue dress pants, white athletic shoes, a plain white or plain grey polo. You should bring your own referee supplies. This would be a whistle, (either electronic or regular) a timing device that is not a phone, a flipping coin that can be a quarter, red and yellow penalty cards, which can be paint chips from a hardware store taped back to back, or laminated construction paper, a net measuring device (typically a chain) and a ball gauge. You can buy the "real thing" anywhere if you like, but it is not necessary for your initial evals. I also typically have some with me at the events. You are under NO obligation to buy the items from me, but if you order them online I'll bring them to Daytona or mail them to your house for those not coming to Daytona. Again: NO obligation to buy from me!

Evaluation Process
You will need to pass 2 evaluations as R1 and one as R2. Don't be discouraged if you don't pass on the first try. Most people don't. Our evaluators want to give you the training and support you need to pass. We want you to succeed!! Expect to be at the site for most of the day, and remember that on the day of your evals the eval needs to be your primary focus...not coaching or other team or club responsibilities.
Candidates should report to the site at 7 am for a 7:15 am meeting. Report to the Head Referee. If you are driving in from a distance you can request to have a 9:15 am start time. See the response forms below.
Make sure I have confirmed you via email before coming to the site!
If you still have questions, please email me, [email protected]. Things are super busy right now, but I won't forget you!!

When you arrive at the evaluation site
When you arrive at the site report to the head referee at the Championship Desk. You will be directed a member of the Training and Evaluation team who will assign you to a court.
After your evaluations, you will need to upload your evaluation sheets into the Evaluation Submission module in your online course.

If you are working at a site that is not an official evaluation site...
If the tournament is Florida Region USA Volleyball sanctioned, you may be able to get evaluated by one of the senior officials at the site, though this is not guaranteed. Ask the head official at the tournament once you are assigned to the event, or first thing in the morning on site and if possible we will work you in.
Evaluation Sheets
Once you have gotten evaluated, you will be given an evaluation sheet that has detailed notes about your match performance. This will be reviewed with the Training and Evaluation Team member who observed your match. You will need to take a picture of the evaluation sheet and upload it in the appropriate module in your USAV Academy account.
Sign in to your Academy account and go to the module that says FL24_201 1st R1 Evaluation Submission (or 1st R2 Evaluation Submission, which ever you are trying to do)
Click "Upload Now" and follow the prompts.
Your progress toward your goal of 2 passing R1 evals and 1 passing R2 eval will be tracked and you will be notified by email as to the status.
